"Velocity" from MAP32 of Eviternity II.
The one I think most people have been waiting for! I actually started writing this for MAP22, and it was going to be a collaboration with Dragonfly but after I wrote the main melody I was like... "I want this for map32."
I always knew MAP32 had to have a fast power metal track, since I wanted it to have a similar gameplay feel to a map I made for Mayhem Orange in 2018, which used a MIDI cover I made of a Stratovarius song.
I worked on the track on and off for about a month in the early summer of 2023. Originally the track was about 4 minutes long and the bass solo went straight into the piano solo, but as the map was shaping up to be a bit longer than I imagined, I decided in October that I wanted to extend it a bit, and added all the stuff in the middle in a day. It reuses some of the better parts of a "Voyager 2" (tentative title :P) track that I binned, which helped me put it together a bit quicker.
Ultimately, I'm a composer, not a level designer. So, having been trying and generally failing at making levels for over a decade, it's still absolutely insane to me how popular MAP32 is. Thank you all so very much. ❤️
