...After having success with the reverse wood fire saw I thought I'd try it the standard way to see if it was any easier.
.
...The first attempt didn't work out as the blade was too thin & was bending too much so I had to make a stronger blade. Technically what I call the reverse fire saw should be the standard fire saw as you are actually sawing with the blade so rubbing the hearth up & down the blade seems to be the standard way.
.
...Anyway I've  got to say the "standard"way is definitely easier.  You can get your body above it & exert a lot more downwards pressure & as you see a got an ember with relative ease.
