Little Jim was found alone and afraid, crying within a tunnel under a highway. Forest officials, monitored the situation for days, hoping the mother would return, but sadly she never did. He was then given the medical care he needed to recuperate, but this was just a short-term fix. He needed long term care, which is when the officials reached out to our trusted partners WildlifeSOS. Just as they’ve spent years caring for the rescued “dancing” sloth bears you know so well, our partners at Wildlife SOS are now using that same expertise to provide little Jim with the neonatal care he needs at the Van Vihar Bear Rescue Facility.
Caregivers are monitoring Jim with a specialized diet, strict hygiene protocols, and daily play sessions to help him grow strong and healthy. His routine includes a custom milk formula, nutritious supplements, and enriching activities to build strength, immunity, and confidence in his surroundings.
