Baby howler monkey rescued! This tiny infant had a lucky escape after falling from a tree about five feet high. Our vet Fran gently scooped them up and lifted them towards their mother. She was understandably very scared, but eventually was brave enough to come close and take her baby back, placing them safely on her back.
Sadly, not all stories end this way. When monkeys are forced to travel through urban areas due to habitat loss from urbanisation, even a short fall can be dangerous. They face constant threats such as domestic animal attacks, electrocution, and vehicle collisions.
This little one was very fortunate - and moments like this remind us why protecting wildlife and their habitats is so important!
