Last year, our team responded to a triple electrocution involving three howler monkeys on a high-voltage transformer in Nosara. A juvenile and an adult female had already died, but a tiny infant was still alive, clinging tightly to his mother’s body.
Tres did not understand that his mother was gone. As our team gently pulled him away, he held on with all his strength.
Electrocution can cause serious internal injuries that may only become apparent later, so reliable medical equipment is essential to observe, treat and monitor injured animals.
