These young orangutans didn’t choose to lose their mothers. They didn’t choose the tragedy or pain. But if you help them, we have a chance to choose their future.
Starting this Giving Tuesday, until the end of December, we are hoping to raise $112,000/£90,000 for THREE infant orphaned orangutans, to get them back to the wild!
It is a big ask, but we know it will be possible with your support. Especially, thanks to a generous supporter who wanted to help the orangutans - this is a MATCHED GIVING APPEAL. Meaning ALL DONATIONS ARE DOUBLED.
After a heartbreaking start to their lives, orphans Mawa, Xavier and Zeno are now safe in the care of our partners, YIARI, at their rehabilitation center in West Borneo. But their journey is only just beginning. Each of them have been paired with a surrogate mother, who will guide them through the crucial steps of growing up in the forest.
Through the surrogacy program, orphaned infants can start to heal, as well as learning vital skills and lessons only another orangutan can truly teach. It’s a process that takes YEARS of COSTLY care, dedication, and expertise from the YIARI team.
Your gift will help provide everything the orphans need to thrive; nutritious food, daily enrichment, forest school training, and round-the-clock care. You’ll also support the vital post-release monitoring that ensures reintroduced orangutans stay safe and adapt to life in the wild.
