A family of three sloths arrived at our center - two devoted adults and one teeny baby. The video you’re seeing is mom and baby having a quiet cuddle. Dad was chilling elsewhere…we'll post him later!
Found in the Santa Elena hills of Nicoya, far outside their natural range, they raised a red flag for suspected illegal wildlife trade. The animals were confiscated by SINAC, who led the operation and humane handling. We supported with safe transport and initial veterinary checks.
Because sloths are a rare case for us, we quickly transferred the trio to specialist care to give them the very best chance - especially the infant. We’re delighted to share they’ve now been released. Three beautiful lives, back where they belong.
