In this Subnautica 2 guide, I’ll show you where to find all 33 different black boxes currently hidden throughout the game, along with several bonus blueprint boxes, useful items, supply crates, and other goodies worth grabbing while you are already exploring.
Black boxes are some of the most important story collectibles in Subnautica 2. Most of the “remains” you investigate are not physical bodies, but old black box recordings left behind by the colonists who died before your character arrived on Protea. Each one gives more information about what happened to the previous colonists, how things fell apart, and why the player is investigating this planet in the first place.
This is a full black box location guide, so the goal is to help you track down every recording without missing important story progression. Some black boxes are easy to find near early-game areas, while others are hidden in caves, wrecks, bunkers, hot zones, alien areas, and deeper parts of the map.
I’ll also point out bonus items along the way, including extra blueprint boxes, useful crafting unlocks, supply crates, nearby points of interest, and other collectibles that are worth picking up while you are already in the area.
