Fishing is now available in Palworld, but you cannot simply walk up to the water and start catching fish. You will need a fishing rod, some bait, and a base capable of producing the ingredients needed to keep you supplied.
In this step-by-step Palworld fishing guide, I show you everything you need to start fishing, including how to unlock and craft your first fishing rod, how bait works, where to find catchable fish, and how to complete the fishing minigame.
The earliest fishing rod becomes available at Level 15. You can also unlock Intermediate and Expert Fishing Rods at higher levels, which make catching fish progressively easier. Fishing rods and bait are not especially expensive, but you will need a modestly developed base with wheat and/or tomato farming before you can reliably produce bait.
Once you have a fishing rod equipped and bait inside your inventory, head to a deep body of water such as an ocean, pond, lake, or large river. Look beneath the surface for brightly colored neon fish silhouettes. These are the fish that can be caught.
Cast your line near one of these fish, select your bait with the scroll wheel, and confirm your casting position with left click. When a fish bites, exclamation marks will appear on the screen. Click again to begin the fishing minigame.
The minigame requires you to keep your fishing rod cursor lined up with the moving fish inside a horizontal bar. It is similar to fishing systems found in games like Stardew Valley. Keep the fish inside your cursor until the progress meter fills, and the fish will be caught!
