Want to change your character appearance in Subnautica 2 after you have already started the game? In this quick guide, I’ll show you how to reopen the character customization menu using the Biobed inside your base.
The Biobed is not just a decoration. In Subnautica 2, the Biobed works as your respawn point, and it also lets you bring the character customization menu back up after you have already created your character. This is useful if you want to change your character preset, swap between the available body options, or change your swimming wetsuit color.
To use this feature, you first need to build a Biobed in your habitat or base. Once it is crafted and placed, click the Biobed once to set your spawn location. After that, press or interact with the Biobed again, and it will bring the character customization menu back up.
The customization options are pretty limited right now. Outside of picking a preset character, you can choose from the available preset options, including 2 male characters and 2 female characters. Beyond that, the main thing you can change is your wetsuit color. There are not currently deep customization options for face shape, hair, body sliders, detailed clothing, or anything like that.
Once you are done changing your preset character or wetsuit color, just hit Accept to confirm your character appearance and leave the menu. You do not need to restart your game, create a new save, or go back to the beginning.
This tutorial is useful if you rushed through character creation, picked the wrong preset, want to change your wetsuit color, or did not realize the Biobed could reopen the appearance customization menu after the game already started.
