About this ship -
Happy Days has a Wave Cannon that splits upon contact with enemies or destructible bullets and will keep splitting, adding up the damage. Several of the ships in the game use this particular Force, firing hexagonal beams.
Pros
- The Wave Cannon can really build up damage if the splitting beams keep hitting larger targets like a Gains.
- The red weapon can be grazed through enemies to keep dealing damage, rather than hitting them head on which will stop the beam.
- the blue weapon is relatively fast and fires out two diagonal beams that semi home in on targets when the beams release.
- the Force will fire bullets in a wider X shaped pattern when detached.
Cons
- the yellow beam is completely vertical and is only good for hitting enemies directly above or below the Force.
About this stage -
Dimension 26 is a pathway to Bydo space. There are three paths you can get into - go to 6.0 by destroying Fine Motion without breaking any pegs. Get to 6.1 by destroying the blue pegs. Get to 6.2 by destroying the red pegs. It is very easy to accidentally destroy the pegs, so if you're certain about where you want to go - break the pegs you want immediately. If you're heading to 6.0, bring a ship with a powerful Wave Cannon, like the Strike Bomber or Ragnarok II.
You'll note that I don't destroy some of the battle ships in this stage. I never, ever destroy the ship where you pick up the missile powerup, because if you do? A Gains robot will appear and so will a bunch of Bydo popcorn enemies. What I'm doing is much easier and more survivable than that. I didn't destroy the ship up above me either because if you do you have to deal with those Strobalt missile ships and this is just easier overall, even if it limits my maneuverability.
Fine Motion is a tough boss for new players. It was my wall for a long time in this game and I would always use the strong Wave Cannons to destroy it immediately. Since I'm an experienced player, I was praying for the laser barrage strictly so I could dodge it like a cool guy. The hitboxes on the lasers aren't terribly obvious - I'm surprised I didn't get destroyed when I watched the video, because the beams were practically in my ship's nose.
By the way - adjusting your speed higher in this stage distorts space. Lowering your speed makes things look more stable. You'll see when I'm fighting Fine Motion how the graphics get distorted because I kept changing my speed.
Personal note -
I work evenings and I got home and started playing at close to midnight. I wasn't in the mood to do this, but I pushed myself, and I'm glad I did. It took a few tries to find my footing, but I got it, and I'm happy with this recording.
