I wanted to do this for a while. In my original No Miss playthrough, I powered through the game with two ships - the Leo II and the Albatross. After making my Ship Showcase playlist, I decided to play again using a different ship in every stage on R-Typer. This is Score Attack, so I used an original course option so that I could avoid potentially annoying stages.
Mission 1: Stage 1.0 0:15 Leo II
Mission 2: Stage X5.0 3:58 No Chaser
Mission 3: Stage X4.0 9:35 Andromalius
Mission 4: Stage 4.0 11:40 Strike Bomber
Mission 5: Stage X3.0 14:53 Albatross
Mission 6: Stage 6.2 19:27 Platinum Heart
Mission 7: Stage 7.2 23:20 Charon
End Credits: 28:00
Ending and final score: 37:41
I used all that I learned from making the Ship Showcase playlist and put it to play here. I practiced these stages for days with these ships so I could be sure that I could get through without dying. I prayed that the Obsidian Pupil wouldn't use a wave attack that came too close to my ship, as it's based on RNG, but it did! I almost got hit near the end, but I pulled through and destroyed it up close. Ordinarily I'll use a ship with a shooting Force, throw it inside while firing, and back my ship into the bottom left corner so I'll be safe until the Obsidian Pupil dies. I had to end this video where the Ship Showcase began, with the Charon, and so I had to fly inside and destroy it myself. I'm happy that it worked out.
Note - in the middle of stage 4.0 when I enter the artillery hallway, my recording program must have dropped some frames, but it's not too bad. I haven't had that happen in years, and it kind of irritates me, but I'm not recording the whole game again just for that few seconds. Sorry about that.
I backed R-Type Tactics I & II on Granzella's Kickstarter, and I'll play that when it releases.
