This is part of the Ship Showcase 2.0 playlist.

About this ship -

The Concertmaster is one of a series of sniper R-Series ships much like its sister, the Shooting Star.

Pros
- the Force fires in a tight vertical X shaped pattern when detached. If you can get the Force above or below an enemy so it's touching and firing, the damage will add up real quick.
- the yellow beam fires from under the Defensive Force and drops artillery above and below on enemies that pass the laser. It's fairly powerful, and one of the better yellow weapons in the game.

Cons
- the red weapon can miss if enemies get between the beams.
- the blue weapon, while fairly powerful, only fires at 45 degree angles from the top and bottom of the Force - nothing straight ahead.
- the ship graphic can confuse you - the gun on the top? It's not part of the ship's hitbox.

About this stage -

You can get here by breaking the red peg on Negus O Shim when the stage is half water and half surface environment. There are a ton of Bydo lizards that spawn flies and waiting until they stop is key to survival if you're not armed from previous stages. Or even starting bare like I did here in Score Attack.

The boss is Negus O Shim and it's a hanging sac that expands and retracts tentacles with a surface that shoot at you. You can destroy the shooting parts of the tentacles with the Force by grazing them or shooting, but shooting is dangerous as you can miss parts of the tentacle and put yourself at risk.

I ordinarily bring a ship with an AoE or piercing Wave Cannon to hit the weak point that can spawn on either side because of how dangerous it is to detach the Force to hit the right side of the boss.

I played extremely safe here, timing out the boss so that I wouldn't die. I did - A LOT - when I was practicing the stage, and while this is hardly perfect, all I care about is survival, so take that into consideration.

One of my viewers has commented that I don't always use all of the weapons for the ships in the Ship Showcase. This is more of a ship and stage tactics showcase, but that doesn't make for a good playlist title. I don't want to edit and transition to show everything like a demo - I'm playing on R-Typer and I'll do what I have to to survive.

Fun facts -
- you can see a couple of Concertmasters pass by in R-Type Final 2's stage 7.2 right at the beginning of the stage.
- in R-Type Tactics, the Grace Note - predecessor to this ship in the series - is a sniper ship that fires more hexagons forward than most. Paired with the Midnight Eye, you can shoot the Bydo beyond their retaliation range.
