Looking as if red paint had been splashed on their throats, these are juvenile male Crimson Sunbirds at different stages of plumage maturity. The red throat blotches vary in pattern and are indeed eye-catching.
The Crimson sunbird is an uncommon resident in Singapore. It has also been unofficially voted the National Bird of Singapore.
