I was observing this female Laced Woodpecker attempting to feed by pecking on a moving vine. Initially, she was not feeding efficiently, as the vine kept moving away from her pecking. Then she cleverly devised a way to solve the problem, by holding the vine down with her body weight. Thereafter, she happily pecked on the vine and picked off the grubs successfully.
The Laced Woodpecker is a common resident of Singapore.
