These are stunning Bulbuls, greenish yellow over their upperparts and bright yellow over their underparts. A dark glossy head with a prominent erect crest contrasted sharply with their overall yellow. Coupled with pale irises that give them a perpetually startled look, this species is indeed captivating in appearance.
They live in forests and forest edges.
Black-crested Bulbuls are residents of the Indian subcontinent right across east to South-east Asia.
