It's in everything- but we never talk about it. Garlic is the unsung hero in cuisine; used in everything from Thai Som Tam to Italian Marinara to Lebanese Hummus. But it's never the star of the show. There might not be another ingredient so ubiquitous across so many different regions and cultures; and how garlic spread is a fascinating story of medicine, mythology, trade, and some epic characters. And vampires.

![The TOP 10 Thai Foods (That Id Never Heard of Before Moving to Thailand)
Believe it or not- even after many visits to Thailand and after more than a decade of cooking and running restaurants in Asia- it turns out I knew next to nothing about Thai food beyond the stuff we find all over the world. Visiting Thailand, its those very same dishes- som tam, different colored curries, mango sticy rice- that are sold in tourist areas, and it never occurred to me that there might be so much more to the cuisine. But as it turns out...theres an entire world of tastes and flavors that havent yet found their way beyond the borders. So as we wrap up our first full year of living in Thailand, here is our list of the top 10 Thai foods that we never knew existed before we moved here!
Happy Holidays from OTR!
