On Sept. 26, 2023, KULT News paid a visit to Mansfield, OH, home of the primary filming location of the blockbuster movie, The Shawshank Redemption.
Naturally we took the tour of the former Ohio State Penitentiary where the movie was partly filmed and include a bunch of photos of what we saw.
We then went into town and aimed our cameras at a couple of banks that had cameras aimed at us. They had wildly different reactions.
Police were called, and what they would say to the bank employees might shock you. We found it absolutely horrifying.

Laws may vary but, generally speaking, in the United States, if you are in public you are legally able to photograph whatever you can see. Simply put, your eyes can’t be trespassed. Obviously there are some restrictions on this (i.e., bathrooms, dressing rooms, most courtrooms, locker rooms, etc.) but with very few, when you are in public, if you can see it, you can shoot it (this rule only applies to cameras.)
