An intense MCS/possible derecho is expected today across the northern Plains/Midwest. SPC has outlined a Moderate Risk (level 4/5) across parts of South Dakota and Minnesota to cover this risk. Initial supercells should pose a risk for very large hail, damaging winds, and perhaps a tornado or two before congealing into an intense MCS (possibly a derecho depending on how long it persists) that could produce straight-line wind gusts in excess of 75 mph this evening.
