This game has quite a bad rap among arcade veterans, but it's surprisingly rewarding once you get good at it. polarity and Macaw45 inspired me to learn this one, so thanks to them!
Where this game plays differently from any other beat-em-up is in the crowd control. Your standard strikes can only hit 1 enemy at a time, so you will die in a hurry if you spam punches on everyone. You need to take advantage of your running special and use jumpkicks wisely in order to handle groups, and the former is tricky since you take damage if you run into an enemy during the special's startup.
King is my preferred character because of his heavy strikes, the knee and big boot. The former is one of the fastest moves in the game, while the latter has one of the best combinations of speed and range. All characters deal the same damage, so speed & range are the important factors. King also has one of the best jumpkicks, so having the worst running special isn't so bad. F.F. may or may not be a better choice, but I mostly love the big boot for the stage 5 boss.
Some of the boss strategies in this game are quite complex, and the stage 5 one is random (re: the amount of time you have to kill him in the 1st phase). Feel free to ask me about any of this in the comments!
Overall, I still have a ways to go to optimize the normal enemy waves for speed. Also wish MAME would run at full speed when I stream. =( -- Watch live at twitch.tv/srkfunkdoc
