This is a real treat and one i'm glad to get on video! A lot of veterans hate 6P France because the last player in the opening auction is guaranteed to get the 11 at cost, but i think that's hugely overblown - 11 causes you to miss out on big plants in turn 2, and jbode & i have almost never seen it win a 6er.

Also welcome to kablammo, kepappi, & Tinchen! The first two are longtime veterans who i only see on the weekends, while Tinchen was a total wild card for me. Unfortunately they're the main reason this is by far the longest game yet on this channel...

For me personally, my main mistake was buying the 32 at cost on turn 2. In a 5P game that's a stronger play since you're more likely to see an extended market stall, but 6 players are just too many for that to hold up. Was in a hole with money and never recovered - lesson learned!

Tinchen made strange plant buys throughout, kablammo got the 27 for a pricey sum on turn 2 followed by the 20 for almost $50 later on, and kepappi got a 26 drop at cost from Tinchen but still couldn't climb back into the game. Mastaba made a lot of money from the 10 & 28 at cost, and Dion paid a ton for the 29 on turn 2 and couldn't build a second city.

We got a huge turn leading into Step 3, with everybody buying an endgame plant of some sort. Mastaba paid a mint for the 30, the 31 went for a decent price, then we got some nicer stuff at cost. The 33 went to me, but that dropped the 34 for Dion at the end of the auction.

With how quickly the market moved there, we saw something highly unusual: a 6P game with *TWO* turns of the Step 3 market! 6ers usually end before we get to enjoy the Step 3 market at all, and i can't recall another one that did this. Mastaba's early money advantage prevailed in the end, making him the only player to reach 16 cities. The two others with the most efficient early plants were the only other two to reach 15, showing how important turn 2 can be in these larger games!
