After getting bodied in my previous 2er vs. Selas, we get a much more interesting game this time!
Again i actually benefit from the 21 Drop Out Of Nowhere, after making Selas pay over $40 for the 25. Was happy to take the 20 earlier due to Selas's lack of coal, and even let him have the 22 for cheap so that he wouldn't have a coal plant (maybe too cheap though). 21 was perfect for me!
This game really shows how to manage the 20 in the early game, particularly how a lesser coal plant like 10 can actually help you. You can see a couple turns where i run 10 + an oil plant instead of the 20; i couldn't build enough to get full value from the 20 on those turns, so i was better off doing this to keep coal a little cheaper in the long run.
Selas still had great early plants, though, so i perhaps overestimated my lead over him. The cheap building on this map led to a funny situation where both of us had to go to 5-4-4 as our top 3 plants for Step 3, or else the opponent could end the game with a capacity lead.
Step 3 created a tough spot for me with Selas putting the 30 up for bid. 30 was an amazing plant and would normally be bid up quite a bit...but the problem was that if one of us got the 30 and a 7-capacity plant dropped afterward, we'd lose the game right there. With a 3/7 chance of a 7-cap appearing, i had to pass there. Unfortunately the 7 didn't come, or even a great 6, so i thought i'd blown another lead. This one came down to the wire!
