How I love to make cheesy grits with Gruyre Cheese, so good. Open description for full recipe.
Ingredients:
1 stick butter (4 ounces)
4 cups whole milk
1 cup coarsely ground grits (not instant)
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon table salt
6 ounce package of gruyre cheese, grated
3/4 cup good parmesan cheese

In a pot bring one stick butter and milk to a boil.
Add in your cup of grits slowly and cook for 5 minutes stirring constantly.
Add in your pepper and salt and mix
Add in your gruyre cheese and mix.
Pour into your 8 X 8 greased baking dish.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Top off with the parmesan and bake an additional 30 minutes.
Allow to rest 15 minutes, then serve.

This recipe is especially good and perfect for having family or friends over. A special occasion or holiday would be perfect. But if you do make this for a special occasion, use the really good parmesan and the real gruyere cheese. People will ask you for the recipe. If you want to keep the recipe secret, then tell them to use Kraft Parmesan and Swiss cheese. It will never taste as good as your secret recipe.

This can be reheated in the microwave oven, but do so covered with wax paper. It will spurt all over the place. The best way to reheat is after it is refrigerated, slice into little slabs and warm in a skillet with butter until browned a bit.... so so good leftover! Or you can prepare this ahead and serve by reheating slices of it in a skillet with the butter.
