The Glades label was started in Miami in 1959 by Henry Stone. It was a subsidiary of the TK label and, essentially, revamped in the early 70s. The main artists were Clarence Reid, Benjamin Latimore and Timmy Thomas, who hit #3 in 1972 with “Why Can't We Live Together”.
Steve Alaimo had been with Henry Stone since the late 50s when he recorded for another of Stone’s Miami based labels, Marlin. In between, he scored a #46 hit with “Every Day I Have To Cry” in 1962 and hosted/co-produced Dick Clark’s TV show, “Where The Action Is” from 1965-67. Clarence Reid hit #40 in 1969 as a recording artist with “Nobody But You Babe” and, together with Willie Clarke, wrote Betty Wright’s #6 hit from 1971, “Clean Up Woman”.
