Hailing from Saarbrücken on the German/French border, Sandra first found fame in the girl group, Arabaesque, who scored five German hit singles in the early 80s. Branching out as a solo artist, she opened her account with the worldwide hit, “(I’ll Never Be) Maria Magdalena” in 1985. (Surprisingly, this song didn’t register in either the US or the UK.)
Before “Maria Magdalena”, Sandra released this version of Alphaville’s #1 German hit, “Big In Japan”. “Sekunden” was the b-side of Sandra’s version.
