Hello everyone once again! Here in another car commercial of the past video, we have the oldest car commercial featured to date on this channel, a 1955 Ford Crown Victoria, with "New Ford Styling." The Crown Victoria was a trim level on the Ford Fairline in 1955. It was a 2 door coupe, that seated 6 people. The "Crown" in Crown Victoria came from the stainless steel strip that "crowned" the roof-line, passing over as an extension to the B Pillar Line.
The base engine of the Crown Victoria was a 223 Cubic Inch (3.7 Liter,) Straight 6 cylinder Ford engine that outputted 140 Horsepower. The only transmission for the Crown Victoria was a 3 speed semi automatic transmission known as the "Ford O Matic."
Other engine choices were; a 272 Cubic Inch (4.5 Liter) overhead valve V8 engine known as the Ford "Y Block" that produced 162 Horsepower. The most power choice for an engine on the Crown Victoria was a 292 Cubic Inch (4.8 Liter) overhead valve V8 engine that was known as Ford's "T-Bird" engine, that produced a whopping 193 Horsepower.
The Crown Victoria was a very stylish 2 door vehicle for its time, fitting 6 people inside, with a choice of 3 powerful engines to outfit it with. The new styling Ford had implemented into the Ford Fairline range, had made the Crown Victoria trim look appealing to the eye.
