Hello everyone once again to another car commercial, or shall I say "truck" commercial of the past! In today's commercial, we have 1985 Toyota Pickup trucks featured that shows the capabilities of the Toyota Pickups. Lets get into specifications of the Toyota Hilux pickup shall shall we? (If you're confused, then we're talking about the Toyota pickup in the thumbnail of this video.)
The base engine for the 1985 Toyota Pickup was a 2.4 Liter, Inline Four Cylinder engine that produced 103 horsepower, at 4800 RPM with 133 LB-FT of Torque at 2800 RPM. There were two engine choices available with better horsepower but retained the same engine displacement as the base Toyota Pickup engine at 2.4 Liters and the same RPM. The engines were; A 116 Horsepower, Inline 4 cylinder that produced 116 Horsepower at 140 LB-FT of Torque at 2800 RPM, and the strongest engine of the group was a 135 Horsepower Inline 4 cylinder engine that produced 173 LB-FT of torque at 2800 RPM. All Toyota Pickup's had standard RWD drivetrains with the exception of the SR5 trim. 4WD was an option on all trim levels of the Toyota Pickup except the SR5 where it was standard.
A 5 speed manual transmission was standard on all Toyota Pickup's, where as a 4 speed automatic was optional. Average fuel mileage with the 5 speed manual was a good 21 MPG City, and 26 MPG highway and 20 MPG city and 23 MPG highway with the Automatic.
If you wanted a dependable, little compact pickup truck that could carry a decent amount of cargo in it's bed for work purposes, or just as a commuter truck, with Toyota reliability and quality for 1985, then the Toyota Hilux Pickup was the truck for you.
