Hello everyone to another car commercial of the past! Here in today's commercial, we have a classic commercial of the 1979 Ford Fairmont "Futura", a trim level for the Fairmont. Let's get into the history and specifications of the Fairmont shall we?
The Fairmont's base engine was a 140 cubic inch (2.3 Liter) SOHC Inline-4 cylinder that produced 88 Horsepower at 118 LB-FT of torque (this engine was shared with the Ford Pinto). A 302 cubic inch (4.9 Liter) V8 was the sole optional engine for the Fairmont in 1979, that produced 220 Horsepower at 4,600 RPM and 300 LB-FT of torque at 2,600 RPM.
The base transmission for the Fairmont was a 4 speed manual, with a 5 speed manual and a commonly more ordered 3 speed automatic were available as options.
The sticker price for the base Ford Fairmont Futura in 1979 was $4,291 which is $13,312 in 2015, a reasonable price.
