Hello everyone once again to another car commercial of the past! In today's car commercial, we have the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse featured in a rather unique commercial. Let's get into the specifications and a bit of the history of the Eclipse shall we?
For 2003, the base Eclipse had a a 2.4 Liter, 16-valve 4-cylinder SOHC engine that produced 147 Horsepower at 5,250 RPM with 161 LB-FT of torque at 4,000 RPM and a more optional powerful engine was the 3.0 Liter, 24 Valve, 6 Cylinder SOHC engine that produced 210 Horsepower at 5,500 RPM with 205 LB-FT of torque at 4,000 rpm.
The base transmission for the Eclipse was a 5 speed manual, but a 4 speed automatic was optional.
AWD was no longer an option with this generation of Eclipse (This generation started in 2000). The Eclipse was only available in a FWD layout. However to compensate for the lack of AWD for the Eclipse, the suspension setup was adjusted to provide a much softer and more submissive ride quality when driving it.
Base price for the 2003 Eclipse came in at $18,200, as shown in the commercial. You could say it was a modestly priced car for its time when the price is adjusted for inflation. In 2015, this vehicle in base form would cost $22,436.
So if you wanted a modestly priced vehicle with sporty and stylish good looks, good performance and built with a Japanese nameplate and quality, then the Mitsubishi Eclipse for 2003 was the vehicle for you.
