Hello once again to another car commercial of the past! Here we have a unique commercial by Pontiac, a unique shortened 45 second version of the original 2 minute and 30 second Pontiac promotion commercial with their song motto "Ride Pontiac Ride", showing various Pontiac Vehicles to a very fitting song.
Now of course, there are a considerable handful of various Pontiac automobiles featured in this commercial, I have chose to talk about in depth, one unique Pontiac featured in this commercial, the Pontiac Sunbird. Let's go into specifications about the Sunbird shall we?
The base engine of the Sunbird was a throttle-body injection 1.8 Liter 4 Cylinder that produced 96 Horsepower and the acceleration of the Sunbird equipped with this engine was quite slow, accelerating from 0–60 mph in 16.3 seconds. The most powerful, optional engine for the Sunbird was a turbocharged, 2.0 Liter, 4 cylinder that had port-injection, and produced 165 horsepower.
The base Transmission for the Sunbird was a 4 speed manual, with a 5 speed manual or 3 speed automatic transmissions being optional.
Front wheel drive was the only layout in which the Sunbird as available in, and had came with two trim levels in 3 body styles. The 3 body styles were a 2 door coupe, a 2 door convertible, or a 4 door sedan. The "SE' trim was the base trim and had an economical 1.8 Liter engine, and the "GT' was a more sport oriented trim that had made the Sunbird have a little more sporty styling cues around the exterior, while having the turbocharged 2.0 Liter engine as standard.
If you wanted a sporty and aggressive looking compact-midsize vehicle with a variety of body styles and with a domestic nameplate on it, then the Pontiac Sunbird for 1988 was the vehicle for you.
