On August 8, 2025 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, officers responded to a call for help from a man after an argument with his girlfriend reportedly escalated. The victim said April M. Smith repeatedly struck him in the chest and face before allegedly locking him outside the home and preventing him from getting his keys and personal belongings. This is body cam footage of the events that followed.
