In the start of my using Sony Mirrorless cameras back in 2013 & 2014, I used to have to adapt Canon's larger lenses to shoot sports with my Sony A6000. Now there is a ton of long glass that Sony makes so I no longer use any Canon glass. But today, I got hold of a 1996 version Canon EF300mm f/2.8L lens and I also had a Metabones EF to E Mount adapter too, so I thought I'd do a test to see if it would work at all. This lens is older than the IS versions that came after it. Back in the day, none of these early non-IS lenses worked at all on any Sony camera. At first, the lens just hunted and would not lock on to anything even in good light but the AF motor was active and working. I stopped the test and went on the www and downloaded the latest firmware for the adapter (75 from 67). Then I tried again and was shocked to see it worked pretty well.
