There is a little known AF setting in the Sony A1II's menus that most people have not heard about called "tracking shift range." Once I found it and changed this setting to narrow, I began seeing fewer dropped frames due to AF losing the player I wanted to track focus on. While this was rare, this is a way to further help the AI in the A1II to better track what YOU want instead of what IT wants. It's sort of a way to harness the good parts of Hal 9000 and leave the other bits off. I hope it helps you whether you shoot sports action, birds in flight, or some kind of performance photography where you really need to track at the highest level.
