I got sent by Sony to RIT, one of the greatest photography schools in the USA, born in the shadow of Kodak. I had a great time up there, toured the massive facility, got to see all three cages full of gear that students can check out and visited 5 of the 24 studio spaces that students can sign out for projects. As a total 100% photo geek, I was blown away by what I saw at RIT. It is truly a gem.
I got to speak to students twice yesterday and met a ton of them at the trade show area where Sony had a booth. I hope I get to return there again soon!!!

Ive now shot a couple of games with my Sony a1 camera and Sony 400mm f/2.8GM lens but Ive been shooting video instead of stills. I have been using 120P and 60P frame rates but Ive been going much higher with my shutter speed than most videographers would be comfortable with. Normally, you are supposed to shoot at one stop higher than your frame rate, so 120P is closest to 1/125th sec shutter speed. One up from 1/125th is 1/250th and this is the normal shutter speed for that frame rate, except that when I try to harvest still frames from that video, the images are not sharp due to motion blur. So Im using 1/1000th - 1/1250th as my norm and the still frames Im harvesting are looking pretty good. They are easily good enough to be published in a newspaper or magazine and even enlargements up to 11x14. Im finding very few people are doing this but I think the video looks decent, though Im breaking longstanding rules. What do you think?")
