KULT News visited Heber City, Utah on May 13, 2024 and we were amused by the sense of entitlement of a local business owner. In a severe case of projection, the angry little man falsely claimed to the police that I had been hostile toward him. The truth was quite the opposite.
Would the multiple Heber City Police officers who respond respect our First Amendment right to take photos in public or would they side with the business owner and violate our rights?

Laws may vary but, generally speaking, in the United States, if you are in public you are legally able to photograph whatever you can see. Simply put, your eyes can’t be trespassed. Obviously there are some restrictions on this (i.e., bathrooms, dressing rooms, most courtrooms, locker rooms, etc.) but very few when you are in public. If you can see it, you can shoot it (this rule only applies to cameras.) This is not legal advice.
