Estonian is a Finnic language in the Uralic family and the official language of Estonia and the European Union. It is the first language for most of Estonia's population and is spoken natively by about 1.2 million people. It belongs to the Southern Finnic subgroup and is the second-most spoken Finnic language after Finnish. Other Finnic languages are spoken around the Baltic Sea and in northwestern Russia.
Votic is a Finnic language spoken by the Votes in Ingria, part of the Uralic language family. It is only spoken in Krakolye and Luzhitsy, villages in Kingiseppsky District, Leningrad Oblast, Russia. According to the 2020-2021 Russian census, 21 people are native speakers of Votic, up from 4 in 2010. About 100 people have some knowledge of the language.
