Louisiana Creole, or Kouri-Vini, is a French-based Creole language spoken by fewer than 10,000 people, mainly in Louisiana. It is used by individuals of various racial identities, including white, black, mixed, Native American, Cajun, and Creole. Louisiana Creole is distinct from Louisiana French, a dialect of French. Many Louisiana Creoles speak French or English instead of the Creole language. With a declining number of speakers, Louisiana Creole is considered endangered.
Haitian Creole, a French-based creole language, is spoken by 13 million people globally and is one of Haiti's two official languages, alongside French. It is the native language of most Haitians. The three main dialects of Haitian Creole are Northern (spoken in Cap-Haïtien), Central (spoken in Port-au-Prince), and Southern (spoken in the Cayes area).
