In 1981, Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer's wedding was watched by millions around the world. During a large-scale appraisal project last year, our archivists located these incredibly rare 16mm rushes, now beautifully scanned by Cinelab Film and Digital in 4K for preservation.

Originally shot for a report by ITN's David Smith on world media coverage of the wedding, which was ultimately not broadcast on the day, this film is now being seen for the first time.

The rushes (raw footage) include interviews with reporters from around the world and the carriage procession of the Royal Family down The Mall, as seen from the press stalls on the Victoria Memorial.
