On April 4, 2025. Deputies from the Rusk County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence for the report of a male with a firearm. When deputies arrived, two females (Kayleigh) and (Sam) explained that a male (Caden) refused to leave her house before threatening to shoot her. Kayleigh gave deputies permission to enter her house to remove Caden but he was not located inside.
Kayleigh appeared to be impaired and stated she used drugs the day prior. Due to her being on probation, deputies decided to do an act 79 search of her residence. The only thing deputies located was marijuana pre-roll container in a garbage can. Sam also appeared to be under the influence of drugs but stated that she had only been drinking. Kayleigh’s story changed multiple times. She first stated that Caden had only mentioned a firearm, but later stated that she saw a pistol while he was sleeping. She then stated that Caden had pointed the firearm at her.
While searching the area, a deputy observed a male (Jeremy) walking and stated “Hey, come over here for a sec”. The man then began running and the deputy shouted “ Police, come here” and “Police, stop.” After a very short foot chase, Jeremy stopped in front of a fence and stated “It's none of your business” when asked for his name. Jeremy stated that he didn't know who they were at first and stopped when the deputy shouted “police”. Jeremy continued to refuse to provide his name and asked what crime he was suspected of committing. One of the deputies then recognized him and knew that he was out on bail. Jeremy was then handcuffed and began yelling that it was against his rights. He was searched before being secured in a squad car.
Kayleigh and Sam first believed that deputies caught Caden but became upset when they realized that it was their friend Jeremy who was getting arrested. They began asking why he was getting arrested before becoming emotional and giving each other a hug. Dispatch advised that probation was not placing a hold on Kayleigh so deputies advised her to lock her doors before leaving.
Deputies then began searching the area where Jeremy was running to see if he tossed anything. They located a pipe nearby when Sam came outside asking why Jeremy got arrested. She also expressed her concerns about Caden returning before going back inside.
A short time later, Kayleigh called 911 again to report that she saw Caden with a firearm. Deputies responded and located Caden before searching him. There was no firearm located and Caden explained that he just wanted to get his belongings from Kayleigh’s residence. Kayleigh was informed that he was not in possession of any weapons and agreed to set Caden’s items near the front door for him to retrieve. Kayleigh stated that Sam had the only key to the residence and Sam eventually unlocked the door. Kayleigh became upset and fled out of the back door and Sam brought Caden's belongings to him.
Deputies then left the scene but returned approximately 30 minutes later when they heard Sam screaming in the street. When asked why she was being so loud, Sam explained that she needed a ride home. Kayleigh then shouted from her window to get inside and go to bed. Sam stated that she did not want to because Caden was back at the residence. She explained that Kayleigh let him back inside and mentioned that she didn't feel safe because she believed Caden still had a firearm. Deputies then informed Sam that she was under arrest and secured her in handcuffs before placing her in a squad car. She was then transported to the Rusk County Jail and released to jail staff.
Sam's Charges were later dismissed and it is unknown if Jeremy was ever prosecuted. Kayleigh was found guilty for interference with a law enforcement officer and two counts of disorderly conduct. She was ordered to pay $916 in fines and Caden did not face any criminal charges.
