Unfortunately for people in the US right now this particular setup may not apply since DJI got the shaft. There are of course other options though. I don't fly analog because the goggles I got a while back look like crap to me and I might as well do digital since I already have the goggles. I started this one off with a level camera for learning and had a hard time just flying around a small room without crashing at some point. Landing on something softly seemed impossible. So I'm basically at the point now where I still suck but I can whoop around slowly with confidence in Angle mode around a small room or larger but it's going to take a lot more practice in acro mode to be able to freestyle around. These were some of my first flights outside so I wasn't real confident yet. Sometimes when I'm really feeling it I can fly around my room with extreme accuracy at high speed but it takes a lot of concentration and coordination so I can't always do it. I get a lot of propwash when descending while flying like this also. I don't really care about freestyling so much as just exploring around though so I think this is a good size for a practice drone. It's pretty fun to just take off from the top of a parked car then land it inside through the sunroof. It's pretty amazing how the flight controllers these days can run these tiny drones around and how fast some of them can go. At this point now I'm going to start moving the camera angle up a little more and this will encourage faster flying.
When I push the O4 lite to about the range limit, my ELRS control is getting too low when set to a 100mW max. So really a 250mW max setting is probably best for flying around buildings. I start to lose too much signal when going around the corner of a building with the O4 lite though. The turtle mode or crash flip mode is clutch though. You just have to disarm, then set the crash flip mode, then rearm again. Moving the sticks just right in short bursts, without overworking the motors too hard, should cause it to right itself. Then you can disarm and rearm again without the crash flip mode on. Being able to hear the props is something I need to figure out but it's going to need a bigger drone frame to accomplish that. Or modding it with an analog vtx that has an audio channel.
