Before I was using a cheap sound recording module that had garbage noise cancellation so the motor would drown everything else out. Now I'm using an old Runcam Thumb to record the audio and give a rear view. I can't see the rear cam live, I only have a rear view through the small mirror. This is the easiest way IMO to have audio recording though I still didn't sync up the audio perfectly. I guess the clocks could be off between them and over time it gets more and more out of sync, but it seems more like sometimes there's a glitch that throws it off a half second or so at some random point. My PC is too slow to really do a 2.7k preview of how well I'm lining it up with the runcam video so I have to sort of guess, then wait however many hours it takes to render. I still have 1.2Ghz live audio but instead of trying to DVR that I'd rather have the Runcam video+audio so there is some visual reference of how to line up the files. Or cutting the off switch at the same time as stopping the DJI recording from the goggles would get you close.
The runcam has a setting that allows you to make it start recording as soon as it's powered on. I have it powered by a 1.5A 5V regulator through the same switch that cuts on my DJI. Whenever my DJI is cut on, the runcam starts recording, and it doesn't have problems saving the file if I just cut the switch back off. Same setup as on my Big Rock.
