Purchased the globe from LJQSTONE store on aliexpress. Next time I need to wash that damn thing so my dirty ape hands aren't getting it all dirty. Finally got one of these though thanks to another user with the heads up. Since I have some leftover copper tube from what I used to make an induction heater work coil I'll try to use that as the primary after I rework this thing. I first had this LC tuned to give me some pretty good RF power at the 20V region using the smaller diameter. After changing it up there was considerably less RF power it was throwing but it still managed to get the toroid going so that's cool. You don't necessarily need a very powerful circuit basically. You'll need it to have a big or active cooled heatsink, or tune it well to run it for long periods though.
I'm just going to use my TC gun but I'm sure there are other easy ways to kickstart these.
