A five-part (plus two reprises) orchestral piece - this formed the full soundtrack of a game that never saw release: In December 2016 we took part in a Ludum Dare jam, 72(?) hours to make a game to a specific theme from scratch. Our theme was "one room," and the idea was that we would make some sort of war-themed RTS. The player would be confined to a war room in a bunker and control units on a map in a epic battle against the enemy.
As the composer I was asked for five themes - a main opening theme (Part I), an ambient track for the bunker outside of the battle mode (Part II), and then three tracks for the battle that would change depending on how well things were going for you (imagine the ROCK meter from Guitar Hero if you've ever played that)
Initially you would hear a neutral theme (Part III), which has a darkish tone to it, but I think it's ideal as a middle ground, there's hints of positive and negative feelings you could get from it.
Part IV would play when things aren't going so well. It's in a raised key and has a faster tempo, to make things sound a bit more tense.
Part V would play when you're on the brink of victory - a powerful, bombastic and motivating piece to accompany the downfall of enemy forces.

For the remake, I wanted to preserve the structuring of the original upload but rather than gluing them together in Audacity afterwards I did everything in one project file, allowing me to do more with repeat sections and reprises, in particular the Part III reprise has gained a lot. I added a lot of sound effects to prop up Part II, as I felt that was the weakest part even accounting for the fact it had to be a subdued piece. Overall, the brass section has been expanded greatly, with all members included now instead of me just sticking to my old favourite, the horns. As for Part V, I... well you'll see.
