You know, in hindsight I probably would have felt a lot better about this track if the big reprise (4:19) just wasn't there. Ah well, they can't all be winners. In the description of the MIDI version's video I told the story of how this track would never have been released if I emptied the recycle bin on my PC more often, but while it's no secret that it's not my favourite of my evi2 works, I did think that gave me a big opportunity with the album version.
I definitely think Gyászolás benefits a lot from its arranged version to a greater extent than most of my other tracks. Like in the beginning, the MIDI has the string ensembles up front but I swapped them out for solo cello, viola, and violin. Because of how those instruments sound in the Windows synth, this would have sounded ridiculous if I did it with the original MIDI, but here I much prefer the softer feeling it gives the early sections of the track. In fact it's true for the ending as well. So overall I think my intentions with this track are better communicated here. I still don't like the reprise, but re-writing sections isn't something I want to do with these arrangements (Otherworld ending aside).
