"Aether" was written in 2020, during the last week of June and first week of July. For the hub, we wanted a music track that was calming, but with a certain coldness about it - the Temple of the Elements is a safe refuge between realms or even areas within realms, but its only temporary; eventually the player must return to the battle and ultimately slay the elemental gods.
Much like Elementalism as a whole, Aether was inspired (albeit loosely) by Dark Souls - specifically 'Secret Betrayal' from Dark Souls III, at the suggestion of Remmirath. I already had the general sound I wanted in mind, and this DS3 track happened to be very close to what I imagined, so I tried to take things further in that direction.
