Here's the fifth and final music video from the Voyager EP, Event Horizon.
This track nearly never made it on to the EP. Because the EP was effectively my dissertation-equivalent for uni, it had to be out on the 23rd April, which was a Friday. I got to Wednesday night and this track wasn't even close to being finished. Like, 30-40% done. I seriously considered just shelving it and releasing the EP as 4 tracks instead of 5 because I still had to commit to the final mixes and masters of every track which is what I planned for Thursday.
The melody I planned for the earlier part of the track ended up just being a guitar solo because I couldn't think of anything else to do on such a short amount of time, and the same goes for the synth solo at the end. Some of the regular melodies are pretty meh (imo) and the mix buries the more subtle layers (there's a keyboard part towards the end that I recorded and didn't even bother filming when it came to this video because it's completely inaudible, though it's quite clear in the MIDI version), but overall I think Event Horizon stacks up pretty well, all things considered.
Thanks everyone very much for listening, the response to the EP was super great and truly appreciated. So now that I've done an EP, I have to do a full album, right?
