Hey Youtubers here we have more great Plarail stuff from TOMY, this is the newer version of the C12 tank engine, this one is numbered KF-01 and runs on a AA battery (the older C battery size type was KF-05). We will also see the KF-08 blue passenger coaches.
I have been trying to find the original type KF-05 version on ebay for a while now but the ones I have found either wont post to Australia or are way too expensive. This I feel is the next best thing and I am pleased I got this one also as its a great little locomotive.
The engine is a tank engine modelled on a Japanese railways C12 2-6-2 type locomotive which were nicknamed "small star" or "little star", these locomotives served a very productive life on the smaller lines of japan.
This model resembles the real life one more than the previous version although is still a long way off in realism but thats the thing we love about plarail etc is the cute cartoonish proportions. It is moulded in black all over plastic with only the smoke box door handle colored in brass color. I could definitely see some areas i could touch up with silver and gold sharpie markers to add more detail.
The engine runs very quietly and smoothly and i am not sure which drive unit is fitted but I have a feeling its the same as the DD51. The AA battery is installed from the underside and took me a little fiddling to fit correctly as you see in the vid.
The 2x Coaches look decent enough although rather plain this is true to the real life ones from pictures I have seen. they roll smoothly and without incident and I cannot wait to get more.
I have become addicted to Plarail now and am starting to see there is so much more than what you will see on ebay its just a matter of finding it all which is quite impossible sometimes. I have something I've really been wanting for ages on the way and I think is great!! C53-43 :)
Some items I am desperate to get is the Black and silver Amtrak diesel, the Plarail C11 and the earlier plarail C12 KF-05, if you can help with any of these I would love to hear from you!!
I am also looking for the Santa fe Fenbo diesel if you have one to sell please let me know :)
