Hi Guys and Gals lots of video making going on and more to come! Here we have the series 700 S-01 with light gimmick. I bought this on ebay and it was shipped to Australia (all we have in stores here is Trackmaster Thomas trains).
This is a Shinkansen or Bullet train that is an electric train from Japan that takes its power from overhead wires and can travel at over 250km/h. An impressive train and the real life train certainly looks like a bullet! The toy version we have here looks very good indeed too and i have no problem in saying this is my favorite shinkansen.
This series 700 runs on a single AA battery located under the front wheels which undo to reveal the battery compartment, I have not had a chance to pull it apart and have a look at the light arrangement but i can tell you its clearly visible but not as bright as one of my 3v light trains but thats understandable as it runs on a single AA.
It runs almost silently and pretty fast with its 2 speed drive unit, the light gimmick would seem to be quite a drain on the battery (it was with the D51 200 locomotive) but I haven't run this one enough yet to comment on battery life. It tracks well except for the end of the video where it seemed to trip over a set of points but as we plarailers know these things can and do happen :D
So if you are going to buy a Shinkansen this is the one i would get as the light gimmick gives it a premium feel for not much more cost and its a great runner and looker! (sometimes can be found for same price as non light version).
