Hi Guys and Gals my Dad has come through again providing me with another train to unbox review and first run for you all! Its the Plarail Doctor Yellow Shinkansen S-12.
This is a Shinkansen type of bullet train that is used in real life to check the condition of the track and overhead wire at very high speed, it does this with a sophisticated array of sensors and some not so sophisticated viewing windows in the roof.
The model is a charming one with red wheels reminding us that this is of course a japanese cartoonish model of a real life train, Some will not like the red wheels but this model is not trying to be realistic and I think if it had a face it would be doing this tongue out expression :P
The toy runs on a single C size battery but is also able to run on a AA battery but the lack of front end weight can have derailing results with a AA although if you have hills on your track a AA battery can be a good choice. It is quite a fast train with a single speed high speed drive unit this thing can only go fast! It is a lovely toy and I plan to get one myself even though I have the most modern version of Doctor yellow on the way with the automatic station set. I have a regular passenger version of this very train to review so that video will come soon. These are my favorite bullet trains from Japan I love the retro shape yet massive speed they are capable of.
