The other day I wanted to play something cozy and I have to admit that I never played the original Super Mario RPG for the SNES. Luckily a few years back a remake of the game was released on the Switch and today we are finally archiving this classic.
The game originally was created by Square and released in 1996 when the Nintendo 64 had already launched. Super Mario RPG presents a story like no other Mario game as Mario teams up with Bowser, Peach and a whole cast of other colorful characters to stop an evil blacksmith who wants to take over the world. In order to stop him we need to find 7 stars and travel the land as we help the population in need.
What really sticks out in this game is the sharp and humorous writing. I have played Paper Mario before and you can definitely see that the witty writing can find its origin with this game. The dialogue had me laughing out loud multiple times and it really has stood the test of time.
The graphics are also so cute and adorable and the colorful world and characters made me smile from ear to ear. It is just an absolute feast for the senses as also the music is catchy and memorable. Overall I am so glad that I finally got to play this classic and the Switch version also feels like the definitive edition and best way to experience it nowadays.
